Healthcare Issues Post-Election
Survey Results

A 2004 post-election survey regarding healthcare issues showed that eight out of 10 voters considered healthcare to be very important. Sixty-seven percent of respondents want the
administration to focus on better and more affordable healthcare while 27 percent want coverage for the uninsured.

Close to half of the respondents state that the current healthcare system has “parts that work well and broken parts that need significant changes”. A third of the respondents feel that the system is completely broken and needs a fundamental overhaul.

When asked who voters feel they trust more to produce solutions to the current healthcare system, half report they trust the private sector more than the government.

The majority of those responding to the survey believe that the public has a right to know the results of performance evaluations conducted
on hospitals, physicians, and nursing homes.
